Youth Athletic Training for Northern Virginia

The Preparation Fitness Development Teams are designed for serious middle school athletes looking to improve their skill development, basketball IQ, confidence, and competitive habits through structured practices, competitive gameplay, and accountability.

This program focuses on long term development and preparation for the next level.

Fall Development Season (August–October)

The development team program is divided by grade into three team options. 

High School Prep Team

The Preparation Fitness High School Prep Team is designed specifically for rising 9th grade girls who want to enter their high school basketball season prepared, confident, and ready to compete.

This program combines skill development, team practices, performance training, competitive tournament play, basketball IQ development, and individualized player feedback in a focused small roster environment designed to help athletes make an immediate impact at the high school level.

What’s Included

  • 2 Team Practices Per Week (24 total)
  • Weekly Performance Training (1x/week)
  • 6 Tournament Events (18-24 games)
  • Personal Evaluation & Feedback: Monthly + End of Season
  • Uniform, Team Photoshoot, & Branding Content
  • Skill, Speed, Strength, and Agility Development
    • Ball Handling & Decision Making
    • Injury Prevention
    • Finishing & Scoring Reads

August 11 – October 30

  • Weekly Structured Team Practices
  • 6 Tournament Events (appx 18–24 Games)
  • Competitive Exposure Opportunities
  • MAX 10 athletes
  • Rising 9th grade girls

  • Early Registration (June 15 – July 15):
    $1,800/player

  • Regular Registration (July 16 – August 1):
    $2,000/player

  • Late Registration (August 2 – August 8):
    $2,200 /player
    Subject to roster availability (max 10 athletes)

  • Payment plans available upon checkout

  • Season runs Aug. 11 - Oct. 30

  • TBD

  • One full year of 15% off all Preparation Fitness services, including private training, group training, camps, clinics, and select player development programs.
  • Priority registration for Preparation Fitness camps, clinics, and future development opportunities.
  • Access to exclusive Preparation Fitness player events and special training opportunities throughout the year.

6th/7th Grade
Development Team

The 6th/7th Grade Development Team is built for athletes looking to improve their confidence, consistency, basketball IQ, and competitive performance before entering advanced middle school and high school level competition.

This program places a strong emphasis on pace, reads, decision making, and applying skills under pressure.

  • Pace & Reads Training
  • Defensive Development
  • Competitive Tournament Play (Two tournaments/month)
  • Monthly Player Feedback & Evaluations

August 11 – October 30

  • Structured Team Practices
  • Competitive Tournament Schedule
  • High Accountability Environment

The 6th/7th Grade Development Team will compete against older competition throughout the season to push athletes outside their comfort zone and accelerate long term development.

Players must attend at least 1 practice per week in order to participate in tournament play.

  • Early Registration (June 15 – July 15):
    $1,299/player

  • Regular Registration (July 16 – August 1):
    $1,499/player

  • Late Registration (August 2 – August 8):
    $1,699 /player
    Subject to roster availability (max 20 athletes)

5th Grade
Development Team

The 5th Grade Development Team is designed to help athletes build confidence, improve basketball IQ, and strengthen the foundational skills necessary to compete at a higher level.

This program focuses on development through structure, accountability, and competitive gameplay while preparing athletes for advanced middle school basketball.

  • Small Sided Games & Live Play
  • Decision Making Training
  • Tournament Play (once a month)
  • Monthly Player Feedback & Evaluations
  • Confidence & Leadership Development

Players must attend at least 1 practice per week in order to participate in tournament play.

Player Placement

Preparation Fitness may place athletes on teams based on:

  • Skill Level
  • Basketball IQ
  • Competitiveness
  • Physical Maturity
  • Coachability
  • Developmental Readiness


Our goal is to place athletes in environments where they will be challenged appropriately and continue developing long term.

Preparation Fitness reserves the right to move athletes between levels when necessary to support player development.
